It’s still a little cool out there but at last the ice is out. Friends of Lac Pemichangan (FLP) hopes you had a great winter and that you are already enjoying the lake. The FLP Board has been hard at work over the winter and is happy to bring you up to date on all the news. Enjoy the read! As you will recall, last year the FLP Board spent all of its time and energy on ensuring that a northern access remained open and was successful in doing so. This year, the FLP Board has been able to turn its attention to other issues. It has been working on realigning its mission and its organizational (or governance) structure with a view to better fulfill its mandate of protecting the lake. Here are some of the things FLP members can expect to see as a result:

  • New look and feel Website and logo presented at the AGM.
  • New FLP signage on all camp and picnic sites.
  • New FLP marker buoys for weeds, hazards and no wake areas.
  • Lake water testing results readily available on new website.
  • Improved communications
  • Potential Pemichangan merchandise.
FLP is happy to report that the northern boat launch access to the lake will continue exactly as last year, with the Gatineau Fish and Game Club and Gracefield providing safe access at busy times.

Save the date! Our AGM is on Saturday July 20, 2019 at 10 am. Refreshments will be served afterwards. This is your opportunity to hear first-hand about what your Board is working on and to ask questions. Board members will also be on hand after the AGM to meet with members. Come on out to meet your Board and your neighbours and get involved if you wish. A detailed AGM notice will be sent out at a later date.

FLP is actively working on improving communications with members and other lake owners, including by updating its email list. As such, you may be contacted by a Board member wishing to confirm your contact information. Currently, only about half of the 300 owners on the lake are members of FLP. The Board is committed to increasing this number. Help us increase our membership by talking to friends and neighbours about the FLP!

Yearly membership (still only $40) is now due and is payable by PayPal through the FLP Website (http://www.pemich.ca/registration/), in person at the AGM or by cheque payable to Friends of Lac Pemichangan, c/o Jeff Stanier, FLP Secretary-Treasurer, 36 Gilchrist Ave, Ottawa ON K1Y 0M6. Gatineau Fish and Game Club member fees include FLP member fees.

Further to requests made at last year’s AGM, the Board is working on introducing a simpler method of payment of annual fees, which it is aiming to present at this year’s AGM.

See you at the AGM!
